What is counseling?
The counseling relationship is unlike any relationship you have probably had. You can expect warmth and caring from me. You can expect some education regarding how the brain and body are reacting to your specific history and current circumstances. We will do a lot of talking to come up with the best next steps for you.

Every person is unique, so I use techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients as they learn healthier and more helpful ways of coping with the stresses of life. I will encourage you to pay attention to what your body is telling you about what it needs--movement, rest, social connectedness, time alone, water, food, etc. Our bodies are wise and can provide us with a lot of information so longs as we are paying attention. I understand this is difficult for many clients as they begin counseling, so we will work towards more awareness throughout the process.
